Let's Talk Justice

began in the Fall of 2016

Let's talk justice

The social type.

The type that keeps us working all day

And still can't sleep at night.

Let's talk justice

The social type

The type that keeps the system running

And citizen cooped tight.

Now, let's talk justice...

Our kids watch shows

Created by adults,

That grasps their attention

And teaches them, God knows.

Booty shaking, women naked

Guns flaring, flesh tearing

8-year olds, on Instagram sharing.

I'm 23 years old,

Hoping my child is blind and hard of hearing.

But let's talk justice...

The procedural type.

The type that keeps everything even,

Fair... right?

Let's talk justice,

The procedural type.

The type that separates wrong from right

And gives punishment to crime.

Now in 2015,

Gay marriage was legalized,

So fairness has been distributed,

At least in some eyes.

Because one man's ring

Can become another man's bling

And they can join in matrimony...

But when that man chooses to be a she

Then the disconnect shows because see

Some people can't believe

How or why HE became SHE

Or why that's who SHE chooses to be

Because SHE was born HE

But identifies as SHE

You see?

To them, it's a sickness down deep.

And it's funny to me

How the disrespect is broadcasted so broadly.

SHE could be sent to a prison for HEs

Because SHE was not born

The identity SHE chooses to be.

SHE gets raped like a woman

But referred to as HE.

Bruised, raped, whipped

They claim the crime and punishment fit.

And we're talking fairness.

We're talking justice.

So let's talk justice!

The justified type

The type that allows us our rights.

Let's talk justice,

The justified type.

The type that adopted the saying

"The punishment fit the crime."

Let's talk justice...

So when a man walks in a church

And shoots down nine

Because he was "insane"

His actions were justified?

You're kidding me right?

A justified hate crime?

That's what it is in my eyes.

It's okay when your skin is pure cocaine-white.

He was perfectly fine, for all of his life

But once he fired a gun

Insanity is implied.

I didn't intend to testify

But I have to speak on how we're going backwards

On the timeline.

How we're headed forward

With covered eyes.

How we're shackled at the ankles

And walking on twine

And below lies a pit

Where truth-tellers die.

How we've perfected the act

Of our contempt lives,

And that a pinch of the truth

Would lead to its demise.

And why?

Because the fact

The way we live our lives

Reinforces the ideals

That justify every hate crime,

Is too much for us to bear inside.

But we're talking justice,

The justified type

The procedural type

The social type

Where in the world we live in

Everything's all right...

No Name

began 03 January 2021 at 4:54a

                                                            I've been inspired

 by a smile,

by a comfort

that allows me to write this so comfortably,

as I watch you in front of me.

Because without touching me

You've done something to me

                                                                            That's awoken my fluidity.

And still I'm stupidly unmoving

because i'm choosing unchanging peace

over what might, possibly be.

But your face is so sweet.

                                                            Sweet like a memory,

Voice like a melody

Looking for my harmony

And honestly

I know you'd make me sing

Your name.

No name.

Are You In Love?

began 12 Sept 2020 at 1:58p

To love someone

Is not to love everything about them,

But to constantly choose them.

Over the bad times

The sad times

The attempt to make you mad times.

To love someone,

Is to show them the ugly inside.

To love someone

Is to still see their beauty, despite.

Loving someone requires allowing them to have faults.

Knowing that they can't be perfect,

And weren't created by our thoughts.

Arguments should stem from passion

Not frustration because your patent

Of that perfect person did not happen.

And if their imperfections leave your voice cracking,

Distracting from the question,

You need to be asking,

"Am I in love with this person,

Or the one I've Imagined?"

Bare Minimum

began 23 Nov 2021 at 9:48pm

Being known is no longer enough

I need to be felt, understood, loved.

And if someone doesn't absolutely love

The way I am, the way I make them feel

I need them to understand,

That I am not the person for them.

Felt

Understood

Loved.

All of the above,

Or none.

Different Strokes

Began 05 Sept 2020 at 10:10pm

Do opposing paths meet for a reason?

Indifferent people join

For the sake of completion?

Forged by fires too strong to smother,

Every flame made bigger when it meets another.

Reaching conclusions causing heated conversations,

Every fire was made to burn,

No questions, no explanations.

Tell me, do opposing paths meet for a reason?

Seasons always kiss, then turn on each other,

Time eventually causing a sickness in the other.

Rain brought by spring, evaporated by summer.

Open doors in summer,

Kept closed by the breeze of fall

Every kiss continuing the the cycle of it all.

So tell me, do opposing paths meet for a reason?
